
Tim Vandergrift
Technical Services Manager, Winexpert Inc.
Tim Vandergrift has worked in the home beer and wine making industry since 1990 and has been Technical Services Manager for Winexpert Limited since 2000. His responsibilities include technical documentation, retailer network support, and retailer and consumer education. Tim also plays a significant role in supporting Product Development initiatives and Quality Control, working to ensure that Winexpert continues to provide the premium quality products that are highly regarded in the winemaking industry.
Tim frequently teaches wine appreciation and winemaking at scheduled events throughout North America and is a consultant to several vineyards in British Columbia. He is also a regular columnist for Winemaker Magazine (the largest dedicated home winemaking magazine in North America) and Publican Magazine, a Canadian trade magazine for beverage alcohol licensees. Tim's articles are also published in several other wine and beer related journals.
His background is in the food and beverage industry, as a chef-de-partie in a French brigade kitchen, a Wine Steward, a menu design consultant, and a resort manager in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia. Tim has been making wine and beer for over 25 years. His wines have won gold, silver, and bronze medals in world amateur winemaking competitions, and won WineMaker Magazine’s first ”Winemaker of the year” award in 2004.
His hobbies include motorcycles, cooking, powerlifting (as a national-level competitor) and gardening.
He collects, appreciates, obsesses over, makes, and above all, drinks wine.
In between, he enjoys beer.
