THE NORTH TEXAS WINEMAKERS GUILD

Fine Vine Wines is proud to introduce this exciting new home wine makers club to our visitors. As a charter member of this club, we will be active particpants and invite you to do likewise. As more information becomes available, we will post it here. Until then, below is some information about the club and its upcoming meetings.

The North Texas Winemakers Guild is a group of non-commercial winemakers and grape growers who gather together to share our winemaking experiences. The Club meets on the third Saturday of each month, usually at a members' home, but on special occasions at other locations, such as local wineries or vineyards.

The purpose of the North Texas Home Winemakers Guild is to:

  1. Encourage and support the art of winemaking and wine appreciation in Texas.
  2. Serve as a gathering point for people who are interested in improving their winemaking skills through education, contests, sharing of information, and social interaction.

Upcoming Meetings
Some excellent ideas and discussion for upcoming meeting topics were discussed and the following decided upon:

March 20 – Steve and Karen Eubanks will talk to the Group about Wine Competitions. We will also bottle the Group Wine.

April 17 – We will have a blind tasting (commercial and/or homemade). Members are encouraged to actively try to find experts to speak on one or more of the following topics:

  • Making various fruit wines (perhaps Tony Hartman will speak to the group?)
  • Bonding rules and regulations

May 15 - Members are encouraged to actively try to find experts to speak on one or more of the following topics:

  • Acidity
  • Labels

June 19 – We will plan a Winery Visit on a weekend in June. It may or may not be the third weekend of the month. Our first choice is Wales Manor. Stay tuned!

In August, we will pull together our order for California grapes (Khris Smith’s source). These grapes will arrive in September, so we will need to plan a trip to the Farmers Market, Downtown Dallas to pick them up.
